Closure of the appendix stump with two different suture materials in laparoscopic appendectomy in children

Purpose: To evaluate the outcomes of closure appendix base using two different suture materials that we used in our clinic with those published literature.
 
 Materials and methods: The study retrospectively reviews 36 cases children who underwent laparoscopic appendectomies. patients were divided into groups: Vicryl group silk group. Laboratory results, diagnostic algorithms, surgical techniques, complications investigated.
 Results:
 Sixteen (44%) male, twenty (56%) female. All patients' mean hospital admission time was 2.22±1.6 days (range: 1–7 days). WBC CRP levels 14.67±5.8x109/L, 139.3±120 mg/L vicryl 15.36±6.4x109/L 86±80 Small bowel obstruction observed nine six Ultrasonography performed 31 cases, visualized 21 (67%).Intravenous contrast-enhanced CT imaging applied 25 cases. At exploration, 20 classified as complicated—17 due to perforation, 3 gangrene. treated broad-spectrum antibiotics. follow-up period 43 months 10-117 months); none experienced intraoperative complications, only had minor postoperative period. Conclusion: In all circumstances regardless appendix's diameter, stump can be securely closed both material.
